Create and Manage Student VFT Accounts
Set up student seats under your ThingLink account.
Background
Before you implement VFT creation with your learners, there’s some backend, tech nitty-gritty to tackle. Making decisions about student accounts, folder organization, and media management now will help streamline the process as your students get started.
To-Do
Set up folders with appropriate permissions in ThingLink and make decisions about media management:
1. In ThingLink, create a folder for each team of students who will be working on a VFT project. Label each folder clearly (such as with the class period and students’ names) for easy navigation.
2. Review the tutorials on creating student accounts and managing folders.
3. Create your class roster and then create student accounts by uploading your roster to ThingLink.
4. Add student accounts to the appropriate folders of their working teams.
5. Decide how students will access the provided base media for their assignment. You may clone specific images for certain teams and move them directly into those team folders beforehand, or you may create a centralized folder of all the media and instruct students to clone the images they want to use into their own team folders (just be careful to make sure they rename and only work in their own cloned copies).
