Sites of Enslavement at the Western Cape

In this experience, students:

• Explore sites across the Western Cape of South Africa to learn about the history of enslavement during Dutch colonial rule.
• Build understanding toward the South African Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) standards:
  • Grade 7, Senior Phase History Term 3: Colonisation, the expanding frontiers of Dutch settlement and immediate consequences at the Cape.
  • Grade 10, History Term 1: European expansion and conquest during the 15th to 18th centuries.
