Get inspired to support your students in explaining rock cycle processes!
This project assignment is designed as a culminating activity following a unit about the rock cycle and properties of rocks. Read more about Emily’s VFT project implementation with her learners.
Adapt the VFT creation assignment here for your specific earth science unit, learning goals, and context.
Note: You may have students choose a location for their VFT project from the sample media available in the resources below, or you and/or your students may choose to capture your own media of local geologic sites for this VFT project. If so, outlining a media collection plan is a helpful step in the process. See Educator Guide 7: Create Your Own 360° Media to learn more.
This activity is designed for students to
- Contextualize big ideas about geology, including properties of rocks and rock cycle processes around the world.
- Demonstrate their understanding of NGSS Disciplinary Core Ideas: The History of Planet Earth (ESS1.C), and Earth Materials and Systems (ESS2.A).
-
Designed for Grades 6-8
-
Takes approximately 3-5 hours
